26 Mar Around the Corner–General Information
We are happy to be presenting the 2nd Annual Around the Corner art exhibit with our partnering host, Logan Square Chamber of Arts/Hairpin Arts Center.
This exhibit gives teen artists, who are “just around the corner” from their adult lives, the thrill of having their pieces professionally curated and displayed at one of Chicago’s most impressive art galleries. And, it gives the community the opportunity to see young talent.

Join community leaders, activists, organizers, people who love living on the Northwest Side of Chicago, and artists of all genres are especially encouraged to attend May 14’s afternoon artist reception to meet the next generation of artists and community-builders. Enjoy the art, the music, and the artists’ stories, and cheer them on. Encourage them to continue honing their talent and sharing it with the community for the rest of their lives, because we need them. Please help us make the 2nd Annual Around The Corner an experience these teens will never forget.
Last year’s exhibit—themed “My Life Journey: Influences that Made Me Who I Am”—had very positive responses:
Thank you for your investment in our students and our community… All of us at Lydia Urban Academy are so grateful to for the opportunity we had to participate in Around the Corner 2015. Our students were treated with such respect and encouraged to grow as individuals and artists. To have such positive interactions with adults in the community is priceless. Thank you for continuing to include us in this wonderful experience as you begin planning the second annual event.

I personally want to thank all of you for your support of young artists and your hard work in pulling this show together. It really does mean a lot to the students and their parents. Schools need the support of these outside organizations and the feedback was just great from both parents and students. I cannot thank you enough and I appreciate your time spent at the show with the parents and especially the students. God bless your efforts and you continue this work.
