20 May Avondale Restaurant Crawl–Participating Restaurant Square Bar & Grill
How do you describe the type of food you offer in the restaurant?
Classic American fare with a big twist. We offer your typical go-to’s alongside some really innovative burgers and entrees.
How long has the restaurant been doing business in the Avondale area?
We’re coming up on eight years of serving Avondale.
What do you like about doing business in the Avondale area?
The community has always been faithfully supportive since day 1. Our neighbors are warm and friendly, and come as they are. No pretentious dining scene or scoff-faced service here. We are a neighborhood-driven gem that couldn’t be here without the support the neighborhood has given us.
What else do you like about the Avondale area?
We love the rapid boom of businesses going up in this area. It has really increased in popularity over the years, and rightfully so. The buildings are historic and beautiful, the community is friendly and professional, and there is a slew of fantastic businesses that share the area with us.
What do you hope to get out of participating in the 2016 Avondale Restaurant Crawl?
Nothing more than to meet even MORE of our Avondale neighbors, future patron or not. Our regulars call us “The Hidden Gem,” a moniker that I both like and dislike, for we would love to expand our desirability into the Chicagoland area as a whole!
For the Crawl, Chef Jayson (“Jay”) is serving a slider version of the pulled pork sandwich: slow-roasted pork tossed in homemade mango BBQ sauce, served on a pretzel bun, with a side of sweet potato fries. Delicious and addictive! You might want to pair it with one of their craft beers or something from their spirits selection. They have hired a manager for each area who are proud of their selections.
Hang out and enjoy the 90s hip hop music and art by local artists.
