Describe the type of food Fruit Paradise serves and why?

Fruit Paradise specializes in creative combinations of fruit-based ice and ice cream.  We have ice cream flavors people probably never heard of before, flavors like cheese, red velvet, and tequila. Our wide variety of specialties include shaved ice with fresh guava syrup topped with vanilla ice cream. Smoothies are awesome, including one made with mango, pineapple, coconut and banana! Fruit Paradise also serves power bowls made with acai, a Brazilian berry from the Amazon rainforest. Don’t miss our affogato, a delicious coffee-based dessert.

How long have you been doing business in the Avondale area?

We opened Fruit Paradise at 3234 N. Elston in May 2014.

What do you like best about doing business in Avondale?

We have enjoyed the friendliness of this community. In addition to locals, customers of local businesses as well as neighboring business owners themselves stop by to chat and enjoy a delicious lunch or healthy treat, sometimes a seasonally-influenced unusual dessert.  That kind of friendliness is what community is all about.

What do you hope to get out of participating in 4th Annual Avondale Restaurant Crawl?

I hope that people who stop at Fruit Paradise are surprised to see how many varieties of tastes we pack into such a small, attractive space.  Wait until they see the terrariums created by a local horticultural artist who has them on display here. Those terrariums and local authors’ children’s books not only make it extra fun to visit here but are unusual, thoughtful gifts for someone special. We hope people will enjoy our warm welcome and come back often to enjoy the many things we offer them with love.
