Questions about this event?

Last year marked the 5th Annual Avondale Restaurant Crawl, presented by Northwest Arts Connection and Avondale Neighborhood Association. New Orleans style jazz band, Four Star Brass Band, kicked off festivities at Brands Park, parading happy, hungry tasters along the crawl route. Guests went restaurant to restaurant enjoying tastes prepared by participating culinary artists and enjoying a lively arts scene along the way.

One of our favorite touches to this crawl was the Travelin’ Trolley that was offered to those who would rather ride from restaurant to restaurant. Our very talented friends from Marianne; The Imaginary Band entertained riders with their irresistibly fun music.

Local arts were woven throughout the Crawl experience, featuring some of our beloved local musicians, dancers, theater performers, authors, visual artists—and some very special dogs that entertained guests during check-in at Brands Park. The event truly connects artists with the community and with each other.

A happy taster noted, “It was fun! We enjoyed the food, entertainment, and friendly people we met along the way.” Another said, “I had no idea there were so many restaurants along Elston Avenue. I can’t wait to go back.”

The Crawl aims to shine a light on the Avondale neighborhood and its many charming and wonderful advantages.

Past guests are disappointed to hear we will not be presenting the Crawl this year, due to transitions both hosting organizations, Northwest Arts Connection and Avondale Neighborhood Association, are undergoing. We all look forward to playing together again in 2019.

The crawl will feature some of our beloved favorites including BrewBrew Coffee & TeaChief O’Neill’sHoney Butter Fried ChickenParachuteFruit Paradise & Taqueria Traspasada. NEW this year: DMen TapDell CoveLa Farine BakeryMirabella, Paleteria Acro Iris, Red Apple, and Pisolino‘s — each unique in culinary style but similar in passion.

Local performers will be woven throughout the crawl experience. This year we welcome 9 time CMA Award Winning artist and Chicago legend Stann Champion, dancer/choreographer Ginger Jensen‘s world premiere of “Dandelions”, UpBeat Music and Arts student musicians & teachers, garage folk band Rent Party, the vocal stylings of Hassan El-Tayyaband of Noah Arroyo who will be accompanied by Moises Pacheco.

But — wait — there’s more!

Chicago Creative Coalition’s spring art show is not to be missed. Crawl guests are invited to stop by Arts on Elston (3446 N Albany across the street from Chief O’Neill’s) to meet some amazing artists and enjoy their work as well as tasting unusually seasoned organic popcorn from Dell Cove Spice Co.

A huge THANK YOU to Grace Pisula, www.gracepisula.com, for putting these videos together.
