04 Oct Irish Theatre of Chicago Nominated for 7 Jeff Awards
Anyone actively involved in transforming the city’s Northwest Side arts scene, knows that artists are our most important asset in shaking things up around here. The more people everywhere know the artists who live-work-rehearse-perform-play-study-rehearse here and what makes them distinctive, the more people will buy performance tickets and visit art exhibits – and bring people with them. That is why Northwest Arts Connection’s mission is to help people know, appreciate, and support Northwest Side artists — visual, performing, horticultural, culinary, literary, and film/video. Stories about these amazing artists can always be found in the “Artists You Should Know” section of our web site.
Stand up and sing the praises of one of our Northwest Side-supporting theatre companies — Irish Theatre of Chicago! For the second year in a row, they have been nominated for multiple Jefferson Award categories – seven of them!
Award night is Monday October 5th at Drury Lane Oakbrook — the 47th Annual Equity Jeff Awards ceremony honoring excellence in Chicagoland’s theatre productions. Emceeing the festivities are multi-talented award-winning performers Cheryl Lynn Bruce and E. Faye Butler. Michael Weber is the director of the evening’s entertainment provided by cast members from nominated musicals, reviews, and video segments from nominated plays. The Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee evaluates over 250 theatrical productions before it makes “outstanding achievement” nominations.
Irish Theatre of Chicago’s The White Road has been nominated for:
- Production Play – Mid Size
- Ensemble
- Victoria Deloria: Original Music in A Play
- Victoria Deloria: Sound Design – Mid Size
- Ira Amyx and Merje Veski: Scenic Design
- Julian Pike: Lighting Design – Mid Size

Congratulations, Irish Theatre of Chicago and thank you for helping us make the Northwest Side known as a destination for the arts!
