09 Nov Women Networking in Our Community
Joy. That was the theme for Thursday, November 5th.
Joie de Vivre means “joy of life” in French. Recently a mom and daughter opened Joie de Vivre, a shop in the Irving Austin area—6053 W. Irving Park Rd., 708.831.8332. joiedevivreboutique.com
On November 5th they generously opened their doors for a fundraiser benefiting Lydia Urban Academy (LUA). The Academy is an accredited, non-traditional high school that provides a safe, nurturing environment for students who may have experienced academic adversity in the past. LUA graduates earn a high-school diploma, not a GED (General Equivalency Diploma). It is a NW side neighbor at 4300 W. Irving Park Rd. (773) 653-2266 http://www.lydiahome.org/10086/ministry/ministry_id/51067/LYDIA-Urban-Academy-Chicago
The event was sponsored by Northwest Arts Connection (NAC) and Groszek Law Firm. Wine, cheese, and vegan cookies were served as women shopped and talked and laughed.
Babette Novak, a Portage Park singer/songwriter, performed her original song “Joie de Vivre” and other selections.
Shoppers enjoyed browsing jewelry, candles, and other fashion and home accessories at a variety of price points with friendly, helpful service by owners Rachel and Gwen Johnson.
Other women associated with businesses in the area came out in support.
Joy.
