27 Apr Around the Corner–Sponsor Spotlight on Groszek Law
The Groszeks are active in neighborhoods on the Northwest Side of Chicago.
We are excited to work with Northwest Arts Connection on the upcoming Around the Corner event. Art is essential to our community and lives and it is wonderful that young people have the opportunity to contribute to the community in this way.
Robert Groszek founded Groszek Law firm in 2005. He concentrates his practice in general civil litigation including corporate, personal injury, real estate, and construction matters. Robert serves as General Counsel for several companies and associations. He has extensive trial experience and is passionate about advocating for his clients. In addition, he is active in his community, serving on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations and holding advisory positions for several government offices.
Jennifer is an attorney with CNA Insurance. “I enjoy working with organizations and causes involving education, art, children and women. My experience on various boards includes marketing initiatives and analysis, bylaw and policy review, event planning and fundraising.”
Every year they host a Garden Party which benefits a local organization. Last year it benefited Upbeat Arts and Music; Upbeat students will be playing at the Around the Corner opening reception. This year Groszek Law is working with LYDIA Home Association/Safe Families.

Groszek Law has already been instrumental in raising money for LYDIA Urban Academy. LYDIA is a fully accredited, non-traditional, private high school that provides a safe, nurturing environment for students who may have experienced academic adversity in the past. It focuses on educating students who need a small supportive environment. The school wanted to participate in this year’s Around the Corner but needed art supplies.
Joie de Vivre is a new boutique in the Portage Park neighborhood. The name translates to “joy of life.” It is owned by a mother-and-daughter team who desired to have a store that captures everything they love about accessorizing life. The boutique specializes in selling home goods, antiques, jewelry, and more—all with an eye towards a vintage European appeal.
Jennifer met the owners when she stopped by their new store last year. Soon she was a regular customer, attracted by the store’s beautiful curation. She had the idea of a women’s networking wine and cheese night to introduce people to the store and get people in the community together. She also wanted a % of the proceeds to go to a local charity and had in mind LYDIA Home Association.
Jennifer contacted Northwest Arts Connection to see if NAC would co-sponsor the evening with Groszek Law. Together with Joie de Vivre, they decided that 15% of the proceeds would go to LYDIA Urban Academy for art supplies to help with the Around the Corner event.
The evening was held in November 2015. Groszek Law provided dessert, cheese, and wine. NAC provided several bottles of wine. It was such a delightful evening and had such great turn-out that they decided to have another networking night in February 2016. Again, 15% of the proceeds went to LYDIA Urban Academy. Dunning Neighborhood Association co-sponsored the event with Groszek Law and NAC.
