27 May Ortega Allstate Agency: A Family Business

The Allstate agency at 3238 N Elston Ave, in the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago, is a family agency. Father Armando Senior, mother Queta, and Armando Junior work there along with son Jesse (Jesus) who recently took over operations from Armando Senior. Luis has worked there four years and has been “adopted” into the family.
The agency has been in this location for 25 years. Avondale is the Ortegas’s home, where Jesse grew up and went to school. He wants to see it do well and thrive. And yet there are things he loves that he doesn’t want to see change too much. He sees culture and the arts as a way to bring the community together and keep it vibrant.
He and the agency are involved in the community—recently, for instance, they have been supporting Carl Von Linné Elementary School and were involved in the Community Clean-Up. We are grateful to them for sponsoring the 5th Annual Avondale Restaurant Crawl.
