Around the Corner is the Northwest Arts Connection’s annual teen art exhibition, featuring works from Northwest Side high school students. The project is a link for students between receiving school art instruction and experiencing the art world in a professional setting. Because high school students are just around the corner of deciding what to study in college or dedicate their lives to, we aim to provide a supportive, educational experience.
Students create work under a curated theme. They attend workshops in order to learn hanging methods and materials as well as how to effectively engage an audience. The exhibition itself will take place in a professional art setting, gallery or collective, and will be open to the public. A formal gallery show opening will be scheduled. In the past, all genres of work have been accepted and encouraged. The 2018 ATC will focus solely on photography. The exhibition will be in mid-autumn.
