The Day of the Dead Celebration is the Northwest Arts Connection’s observance of life and death traditions. It is a multidisciplinary, multiethnic arts festival and features visual, performing, literary, and culinary arts as well as remembrances. The festival expresses life and death customs from countries all over the world, centered around a public space on the Northwest Side of Chicago.
Each year, we seek to be more inclusive, not only through the arts we show but through our engagement with the public. The Celebration takes place the last week of October through the first week of November at Woodard Plaza, at the intersection of Logan Square and Avondale neighborhoods—2819 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago—where Milwaukee Ave, Diversey Ave, and Kimball Ave. come together.
