Chicago Artists Interpret Shakespeare presents two back-to-back art exhibits at Addington Gallery, curated by Anne Farley Gaines, Robert Kameczura, and Maureen Warren. The show has previously been exhibited in several galleries and public places in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio. It is one of many arts presentations in Chicago this year commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.
Wikipedia says ekphrasis is a “device in which one medium of art tries to relate to another medium by defining and describing its essence and form, and in doing so, relate more directly to the audience, through its illuminative liveliness.”
I am looking forward to seeing Shakespeare “illuminated” by these pieces of visual art.
