22 Nov Northwest Side Writers Spread Holiday Cheer
Meet the Winter Wonderland Readers
The NW Side of Chicago is home to many talented performers and artists. This Saturday, November 26, we are blessed to welcome a handful of very talented poets and authors as we kick off this holiday season with the 2nd Annual Winter Wonderland celebration.
Lisa Groszek is a poet and novelist. She has published two speculative fiction novels, The Lonesome Isle and Above and Below, and is working on a third, Spirit Heath. Her book And They Danced: Songs of Life is a selection of poems. Lisa will also be signing books!
Erika Doyle is a poet and visual artist. She is originally from Argentina and is a founding member of Café y Literatura entre Nosotros, a writing group that shares work in Spanish. She has read poems at many events, most recently at the Northwest Arts Connection’s Day of the Dead Celebration. At Winter Wonderland she will be reading in English, although we are definitely going to try and persuade her to read one or two poems in Spanish.
Jerry Pendergast is a Chicago native and poet. He is well-known for organizing open-mics for spoken word and other performing arts.
Kathy O’Neill will read original stories and poems about growing up Irish Catholic in the 70’s and 80’s in New Jersey. They are truthful and funny. Kathy is a writer, journalist, special events producer, and publicist.
Come out and enjoy the creative works from our community while supporting our local small businesses! Your whole family will enjoy live music, face painting, storytelling, hot cocoa, roasted marshmallows, homemade truffles, visit with Ms. Santa, caroling… and more!
